My Gardening Journal

DATE:   April 6, 2021
Today the weather is just right for working outside.  Blue skies, gentle breezes and spring warmth.  To take advantage I pruned three rose bushes I had removed from undesirable locations  and left with their roots soaking for 24 hours.  I plan to transfer them to spots where I hope they would thrive.    They were not doing too good where I first planted them.  Another project I'm working on that I actually began last Friday, is dividing some perennials and newly purchased plants.  I started with 5 Hosta plants and the result was 15 plants after I separated them.  One or two of them ended with no visible root, so I'm not sure if they will grow or die in the pot.
My usual method of gardening has not impressed me, less more anyone else.  There was no rhyme or reason to the structure of beds.  I am making a change this year, I've decided to landscape my back and front yards.  Creating spaces of interest and using a lot of mulch.  Also my selection of plants has changed this year.  I'm more into foundation type plants.  Lots of ideas, we'll just see how it goes.
Happy Gardening, Amanda
